FFA Teaches MGS Students

Minneapolis High School FFA students recently visited Minneapolis Grade School to teach young students about farming and how food reaches their plates. The high schoolers led engaging activities to highlight the vital role of farmers in food production. One of the activities was a matching worksheet, where elementary students matched everyday food products with their raw ingredients, such as linking milk to cows and eggs to hens.

Both high school and elementary students learned valuable lessons through the hands-on activities. The high schoolers practiced leadership and communication skills while educating the younger students about the importance of agriculture. Meanwhile, the elementary students gained a deeper understanding of where their food comes from, sparking curiosity about farming and the hard work that goes into food production. The event was a success in bridging the gap between generations and fostering a greater appreciation for the agricultural industry.

North Ottawa County Public Schools remains committed to cultivating the best place to live, work, and learn. Teaching the Tykes is just one of many examples of community partnerships our district has with area organizations. In preparation for this event, MJSHS FFA Students in Mrs. Wallace's class participated in a program offered by Shannon Martin, Assistant Director of Agriculture and Foundation from the Kansas Farm Bureau. A special thank you to everyone who made this project possible!
