FFA Labor Auction

Approximately 140 participants, including students, staff, parents, grandparents, and community members, turned out on Tuesday night, February 25, for the annual Minneapolis Junior Senior High School's FFA Work Auction.

The FFA Work Auction allows MJSHS students to connect with their community by offering their labor for a day in exchange for money to be used as a scholarship for future study.

Mrs. Wallace, FFA Sponsor, stated, "We had a record-breaking number of buyers and contributors in attendance this year." The larger crowd this year is likely because MJSHS FFA has an all-time school record of 99 members. Such a large number of members is not common in most schools across Kansas.

The evening started with chili and cinnamon rolls before transitioning into the gymnasium for the auction. All in all, our local FFA raised approximately $20,670--all to be used by local members for scholarships.DinnerTyler Crosson, who served as the event's auctioneer, provided the crowd with entertainment using his quick wit and clever quips while still maintaining a sharp focus on driving bids to new heights.

TylerNorth Ottawa County Public Schools strives to offer a variety of programs to help our students extend their learning beyond the traditional classroom. The FFA Work Auction is one such example where students are able to learn small-town values while preparing to be world-ready. A special thank you goes out to everyone who contributed to the success of this annual event.
