USD 239 Superintendent Curtis Stevens stated, "After meeting with USD 239 Transportation Director Stoney Runnion, I decided to close school on Tuesday, February 18. My main concern is that our buses encounter mechanical issues when operating in low wind chill temperatures. We do not want students and staff on a bus stranded during these extremely low and dangerous temperatures. I will continue monitoring the weather before making decisions about Wednesday."

USD 239 will continue communicating information to our families using our email and texting notification system. Information about closures is also posted on the district webpage, KSAL, Salina Post, KSN, KWCH, and KAKE news.
