USD 239 North Ottawa County Public Schools will have a two-hour delayed start time on Friday, January 10, for the second school day this week.
Superintendent Stevens notified staff, parents, and students on Thursday evening. Late Thursday afternoon, the area received snow flurries and some light misting. The National Weather Service forecasted snow overnight but predicted little to no accumulation.
Stevens stated, “I will monitor the weather overnight and early tomorrow morning. On Thursday evening, I drove county roads and highways to assess their condition. I will go out again around 4:00 a.m. Friday morning and examine the road conditions near Ada, Delphos, Wells, and as far south as K-18. The two-hour delay will give drivers sunlight on their way to school. After talking with several bus drivers today, they informed me that Thursday’s 2-hour delay was helpful given the roads following our winter storm. The 2-hour delay will also give our operations crew time to apply more salt to sidewalks and steps around the school buildings.”
If conditions change, the school district will email and text staff, parents, and students.
