The Minneapolis High School Drama Department will perform its annual Shirley Windhorstl fall musical on Friday and Saturday evenings, November 17th and 18th, 2023, at 7:30 p.m. in the High School Auditorium. Tickets will be available the night of the performance for $5.00 and $10.00 for premium seats. The plot of Emma! A Pop Musical is based on Jane Austen’s classic novel, Emma. This sparkling new musical features the hit songs of legendary girl groups and iconic female singers from The Supremes to Katy Perry. Girl power has never sounded so good! Emma, a senior at Highbury Prep, is certain she knows what’s best for her classmates’ love lives, and is determined to find the perfect boyfriend for shy sophomore Harriet by the end of the school year. Unfortunately, Emma’s relentless matchmaking might get in the way of her own happiness.
Lead cast members are Shelby Davidson as matchmaker Emma, Abby Shea as shy best friend Harriet, Justin Villalpando as Jeff Knightley, Nyah Weis as vending machine heiress Jane Fairfax, Levi Smith as pop star Frankie Churchill, Kaleb Ocker as Stuco President nominee Philip, Braxton Grimes as shy student, Martin, Myka Deronet as confident singer Ashley, Brinley Boyer as principal Miss Bates, Aidan Hessman as Mr. Weston/high school student, and Clare McKain as Miss Taylor/high school student.
